Dear Friends,
As we view 2009 in the rear view mirror, we can certainly see that it was a year full of challenges. Terrorism, environmental destruction, economic crisis, wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, poverty, drug addiction, and an unprecedented apathy and/or indifference on the part of so many in regards to religion are just some. On a personal level, I enter this year both yearning for and expecting more. More from me. More from my leaders. More, ultimately from my God as I know that He is immensely able to provide for all of our needs.
Brothers and sisters, as we see our world in so much trouble in so many ways we, as God's people, must rise up and resolve to be part of the solution. 2010 needs to be a year of real change. Let 2010 be a year when words like integrity, honesty, stewardship, fidelity, grace, forgiveness, and love resonate in our lives. Ultimately, the only "change" we can really believe in will come from God and it will take place in the hearts of men. We can because He cares.
For that reason alone I remain an optimist. God is able and desires the best for His people. So, as we enter 2010 lets all expect more from ourselves, our leaders, and yes our God. Challenge yourself to do more, help more, give more, & love more. Raise your expectations for your leaders and hold them accountable just as you are accountable. Expect God to both show up and work hard on your behalf. After all, you are His precious child and He wants the absolute best for you. Believe it!
